The Schulenburch is the beating heart of the village of Kamerik. Sports are held in the multifunctional building, there is a library and there are various rooms for parties and meetings. The building also has a kind of village hall function, but is now threatened with closure. “We will soon be paying 200,000 euros per year for gas, water and electricity,” says Jan Zwaneveld, secretary of De Schulenburch. It has therefore been decided to no longer offer athletes a hot shower. “Especially for the korfball or volleyball teams that come to play competition from other parts of the country, I find it annoying. So they can’t shower here.”
