Heat emergency pressing on Biden for new work regulations

(Finance) – Even the United States they might have one new labor regulation during the heat emergency. A group of 112 Democrats has invited President Biden to launch new safety standards for workplaces, both internal and external, following theabnormal heat wave spread throughout the country.

The group asked the White House administration to set new standards on adequate water consumption and heat-free breakson medical education, to identify heat-related diseases, and a “heat emergency” plan for workplacesto adjust the procedures during times of emergency.

“These heatwaves are dangerous, life-threatening, and, with the devastating effects of climate change, are getting worse,” Senator Bernie Sanders said, urging the Biden administration to “move quickly to create national heat standards to protect workers in the workplace.”

The legislator has asked the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Department of Labor body in charge of safety and health assurance in the workplace, to model the new standards based on a 2022 bill, which Congress never voted on and which was named after a California farm worker who died after picking grapes for ten hours in temperatures of 41C in 2004.
