The committee said on Thursday that Donald Trump and his allegations of a stolen election were at the heart of the discontent that developed into the violence.
“President Trump called for the mob, gathered it and lit the flame for this attack,” said Republican Liz Cheney, the committee’s vice president, in her opening remarks.
