Health unit moving to Robinson Street Administration Building in Simcoe

The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit is moving from its 12 Gilbertson St. location to the Robinson Administration Building in Simcoe.

The move, effective July 22, is meant to enhance residents’ access to a range of community health services, said a news release issued by Norfolk County.

“The move will bring the health unit team closer to key health services, including the Norfolk Family Health Team, opening later this year, Norfolk County Community Paramedics, and Norfolk General Hospital, making it easier for teams to work together, and creating a health -care hub for clients to get convenient access to care within the community,” said the release.

Health unit offices in Caledonia and Dunnville will continue to operate with no changes.

The ServiceNorfolk counter, which was previously located at the Robinson Administration Building, relocated in April to the county’s Administration Building at 50 Colborne St. S., Simcoe, where it will continue to operate.

Rresidents can now access public health services on the second floor of the Robinson Administration Building at 185 Robinson St. Visitors can check in at the reception desk.

All clinical services, including oral health programs and services for children and seniors, will continue to be offered at the the Gilbertson Administration Building at 12 Gilbertson Dr. in Simcoe.

Norfolk’s community paramedics team, part of the county’s paramedic services group, is also moving from Culver Street to the Robinson Street hub. All Norfolk County Paramedic Services emergency bases will remain active and in their current locations.

“Thank you for your patience and support as we work on improving our office spaces, helping us serve you better and more efficiently,” said Norfolk CAO Al Meneses. “By moving key public health services to Simcoe’s downtown area near Norfolk General Hospital, we’re making it easier for everyone to access the care they need.”

Norfolk County provincial offenses administration office services and courtrooms will continue to operate on the first floor of the Robinson Administration Building.

Access to the Robinson Street building became an issue in mid-March, when the elevator and automatic door openers were not working. Another sign told visitors the fire alarm system and emergency lighting were not working due to a partial loss of power.
