Local health care will be the topic of discussion at upcoming public meetings in Brantford and Brant and Norfolk counties.
Residents are being invited to share their experiences with the local health system at the meetings, which are being held by the Persons with Lived Experience Committee of the Brantford Brant Norfolk Ontario Health Team.
“We want to know what is working, what is not and how we can improve the delivery of health care and community health services in Brantford, Brant and Norfolk,” Jessica Ackland, the team’s communications co-ordinator, said in a statement. “There will also be a brief presentation on the concept of Ontario Health Teams and how they are changing the way health care is delivered across Ontario.”
She said participants can expect a focused conversation about the local health-care system and the priorities for change as identified by those using the system.
On June 16, sessions will be held from 10 am to noon at Brantford’s civic center and from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Brant Sports Complex in Paris.
On June 23, a session will be held from 10 am to noon at the Junior Farmers building at the Norfolk fairgrounds in Simcoe. Also that day a virtual event via Zoom will be held from 6:30 pm to 8 pm

The health team includes representatives from more than 10 local agencies, including the Brant Community Healthcare System, social service agencies, health centers and primary care providers. Introduced by the provincial government in February 2019, health teams are a new way of organizing and delivering care that is more connected to patients in their own communities.
