The accident occurred at seven o’clock on Saturday evening and both the emergency services, the police and the ambulance were called to the scene.
Several people have now been taken to hospital by ambulance and the damage is said to be serious.
– For some unknown reason, a car drove south in a northbound direction and then collided head-on with another car, says Johan Ljung, officer on duty in Västra Götaland.
The road is to be closed in the northbound direction and recovery and clean-up on site is awaited, the newspaper writes.
– We investigate it as gross negligence in traffic or causing serious bodily harm or alternatively causing the death of another if it goes really badly, says Johan Ljung.
