While the advance of opposition groups against the Assad regime in Syria continues, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi came to Damascus, the capital of Syria, to hold official contacts. Arakchi met with Syrian President Bashar Assad.

During the meeting, Arakchi said that Iran gives full support to the Syrian people and army in the fight against terrorism and the preservation of regional security and stability, and stated that what is happening in Syria is a part of the US plan to drag the region into chaos and said, “As in the past, Syria is once again the winner.” “will take sides,” he said.
Stating that support to the Syrian army and state is Iran’s strategic policy, Arakchi emphasized that this support will continue and defined this strategic approach as a step aimed at ensuring permanent stability and security in the region and supporting the security of all regional countries.
Assad thanked Iran for its support and stated that he found Arakchi’s visit to Syria during a sensitive period extremely meaningful.
