He weighed the big fries at McDonalds and reveals why

He ordered a medium and a large fries from McDonald’s, then decided to weigh them separately. And the result convinced him not to order large fries again.

If you’re considering a quick jaunt to a fast-food McDonald’s, think twice before ordering a large portion of fries. Why, you ask?

Eke Bosman, a Dutch junk food influencer known as “Snackspert” on Instagram, conducted an experiment that might make you think.

Mr. Bosman ordered a medium and a large fry from McDonald’s, then decided to weigh them separately. Surprise: while an average portion displays 116 grams, the large one weighs only 130 grams. A slight difference of 14 grams, or barely 10 additional fries!

If we look at the financial issue, the finding is striking: a large portion costs €3.25, while an average costs €2.85. An almost negligible difference between a medium portion and a large one. In short, you pay 40 cents more for a meager dozen fries.

McDonald’s reaction????

McDonald’s responded on Instagram to Snackspert’s video: “Our fries portions are hand-filled by our team, so there may be variations. A medium portion should weigh 114 grams, a large 150 grams.” This suggests that the portion of our dear Snackspert, weighing only 130 grams, was not up to par.

So what do we do ? ????

Next time, bring a scale before you cross the threshold of McDonald’s. So you can be sure that you really get your money’s worth.

The other reason not to order large fries is that they are not the healthiest food in the world. Deep-fried french fries absorb a large amount of oil, which increases their fat content. Consumed in excess, they can contribute to weight gain. Additionally, when carbohydrate-rich foods are cooked at high temperatures (such as when frying), they can form acrylamide, a substance that could be dangerous to humans.
