An unnamed 12-year-old boy living in China conducted a bizarre sexual experiment with a thermometer. He was unable to remove the medical device after inserting it into his penis while masturbating, causing it to go too far. The jammed thermometer remained in it for nine hours. The child, who was taken to the hospital after suffering severe pain, was taken under immediate action.

X-rays revealed that the thermometer had been inserted into the urethra and entered the boy’s bladder. Paramedics worried that pulling it as it came would damage the boy’s organs, so they removed it from the teen’s bladder with keyhole surgery.
DRILLING CAN CAUSE VERY DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES
The boy admitted to doctors that he inserted the thermometer for sexual pleasure, a risky practice known as drilling. Drilling carries many risks, as in the child’s case, such as getting the object stuck or lost, damaging or injuring internal tissues, and puncturing the bladder. Some of these injuries can occur when paramedics remove the substance or involve major surgery to the bladder itself, so surgeons must be careful in this situation.

Detailing the case, the urologists chose to pass through the bladder rather than retract it as it came. They made a small surgical hole in the tissue leading to the bladder, which normally stores urine, and then inserted small instruments to pull the thermometer out of the keyhole and put it at the correct angle and position. The surgery was a success, but paramedics did not elaborate on whether the child experienced any long-term complications due to the unfortunate event.

Dr Changxing Ke, lead author of the case report, said the boy inserted a thermometer into his penis to masturbate because of “feelings of curiosity” and “lack of sex education”. The date of the incident was not disclosed in the case report. The number of people who have sexual experiences with foreign substances is increasing.
