He was able to receive a newly instituted prize – awarded on the homestead day

The first to receive the award was the Örebro writer Clas Thor, who lived here for many years and who early on collected workers’ stories. That soon after he settled in the mill house in 1979. Since then there have been 70 books, several of which are about the local area, for which he is now being recognized by the association.

– It is a great honor. For me, this has been about conquering history. Partly Karlslund’s history, but also as an important part of Örebro’s history, says Clas Thor.

Duke Karl on the bridge

He accepted the award at the Långkatekesen building, the homestead dating back to the 18th century.

– This is one of the oldest preserved houses in Örebro. And down here on the bridge, Duke Karl has stood once during his inspections. Karlslund has been a royal barn and supplied the castle. So here there is a lot of history with the center and periphery.

The prize sum is SEK 10,000.
