Hasan Nas (46), the father of 3 children, living in the Midyat district of Mardin, was taken to the hospital after a foreign body got into his esophagus while he was eating dinner a week ago. Nas, whose condition became serious, was transferred to Medical Park Elazig Hospital. Nas, who was first taken to the intensive care unit here, was found to have bone in his esophagus as a result of the analysis, examination and endoscopy. Gastroenterology Specialist Assoc. Dr. An anesthetic endoscopy performed by Zeynel Doğan revealed that there was a bone in the esophagus and that the bone had pierced the esophagus. Nas was taken to the thoracic surgery department because the bone caused damage to the esophagus and was risky. Here, Assoc. Dr. The foreign body was removed by esophagoscopy (with tubing) by Tayfun Kermenli and his team, and then he was operated on and the damage to the esophagus was repaired. Nas, who regained his health after the intervention of three physicians, said that he found himself in Elazig after eating radish for the last time.
“A OBJECT WAS LEFT IN MY THROAT WHILE EATING TURP”
Describing the unfortunate event he experienced, Hasan Nas said, “Something got stuck in my throat while I was eating dinner, but I didn’t know what escaped it. It suddenly happened like this. Later, I went to a hospital, they intervened. They found that there was an object in my esophagus. After that, I found myself in this hospital. “Dinner had casserole and radish. Something stuck in my throat while I was eating radish. At that moment, I didn’t know what it was. My chest was burning. When you swallowed something, it was like prickling. Now I’m very good and relaxed. I can eat and drink like I used to,” he said.
IT WAS SURGERY WITH THE INTERVENTION OF THREE DOCTORS
Anesthesia and Reanimation Specialist Uzm. Dr. Güneri Atalan said, “Our patient was brought to Mardin 112 emergency medical teams because of an esophageal tear due to a foreign body in the esophagus. In the films we shot, it was determined that the patient had a tear in the esophagus, especially in the esophagus.”
Gastroenterology Specialist Assoc. Dr. Zeynal Doğan said, “The patient was consulted to the gastroenterology department with the feeling of being stuck in the esophagus and a preliminary diagnosis of a foreign body. We recommended endoscopy to the patient. In the endoscopy we performed during anesthesia, we detected a foreign body in the middle of the esophagus that damages the esophagus and creates a hole. Generally, foreign bodies are endoscopic. “It can be removed as a surgical procedure, but when it damages or pierces the esophagus, it can be risky to remove it. Therefore, we referred it to the thoracic surgery department for the operation.”
“WHEN HE EATED, THE BONE SWALLOWED, IT WAS SHARP AND SHARP”
Thoracic Surgery Specialist Assoc. Dr. Tayfun Kermenli said that when a rupture occurs in the esophagus in foreign bodies, it may be risky to remove it during endoscopy. Assoc. Dr. Kermenli said, “That’s why we need to take the patient into surgery. We put the patient to sleep and removed the foreign body from the esophagus with a pipe system called esophagoscopy. We detected a hole in the esophagus. At the same time, the region called the mediastinum, where the heart is located, can become infected and inflammation can develop. We performed the operation with the incision we call thoracotomy. Our patient swallowed a bone during the meal. This piece of bone was very sharp and pointed. It sank into the esophagus and pierced it. First of all, he went through an intensive care unit. Then the gastroenterology department diagnosed him. We performed his treatment as a thoracic surgeon. “He became a patient that three physicians were dealing with. Since he is a complicated patient and a rare disease, he needed to be evaluated in a high-level hospital. We have accomplished this,” he said. UAV
