Big comeback with Stranger Things: That’s why Frank Darabont is returning from directing retirement
No! Darabont hasn’t given up filmmaking yet. On the contrary: He is currently back in the director’s chair and rotates. Darabont has returned from retirement for the final Stranger Things season. But how did this come about? In an interview with The Daily Beast, the director reveals what motivated him to return.
Darabont says:
What really brought me out of retirement was my wife and I [Stranger Things] really love. Ours today [Filme und Serien] is so full of terrible people doing terrible things for greedy reasons, but Stranger Things has so much heart. This positivity is something that really touched me.
But what happens next? Will Darabont take on a larger King adaptation again? Or is he planning something completely different?
I didn’t miss the film business, but I did miss being on set with creative people. It may well be that it was the last timebut we still have time.
His Future as a director Darabont leaves it open with these words. For now, we can be curious to see what a Stranger Things episode he directs feels like. As a horror and Stephen King expert, it’s definitely a perfect fit for the series. There were already numerous King references in the individual episodes.
