Disney’s latest animated film Wish was directed by Chris Buck and was supposed to be something very special. The theatrical release celebrated the 100th anniversary of Walt Disney Animation Studios. The film is also dedicated to the late animator and screenwriter Burny Mattinson, who was involved in many well-known Disney films such as The Jungle Book and The Lion King.
The film used new animation technology and numerous allusions to older Disney classics. In the end, Wish couldn’t meet the expectations of many fans. If you missed the movie or want to give it a second chance, you can now on Disney+ the opportunity to do so.

17-year-old Asha (voice: Ariana DeBose) lives in the Kingdom of Rosas, also known as the Realm of Desire. Every person gives their favorite wish to King Magnifico (Chris Pine). Once a year the king chooses a wish, which then comes true.

But Asha senses the evil in Magnifico and therefore expresses a wish towards heaven. A little star promptly comes to her aid. Together with Asha’s goat Valentino (Alan Tudyk), the trio sets out to save Asha’s people.
Unloved Disney princess deserves a second chance
The latest Disney animated films have had a difficult time with many viewers recently. Encanto scored 6.7/10 points in the Moviepilot community, Strange World got 5.7 and Wish only at 5.3. A similar trend can also be seen on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb.
The most common criticisms include the flat characters, the songs without catchy tune potential and the lack of emotionality. That’s why Asha stands out as the new Disney

But Asha is a lovable heroine despite her flaws. She is the only person who saw the danger from the evil king in the entire kingdom. To stop him, she goes beyond herself and shows how adventurous, optimistic and courageous she is. Asha has such a wonderful character that she deserves a second chance.
The novel animation style is different than previous Disney films, but fits the story well. The film’s background music divides fans. So it’s best to see for yourself about Wish on Disney+.
