He inspires with a lot of tension and really evil

How far should you go to assert your arguments? To take revenge, to punish mistakes? And what about art? How far can it go? how extreme should forms of expression become?to really challenge an audience?

Director Mark Mylod asks these and many other questions with his satirical culinary horror thriller The Menu. It definitely presents you bloody main coursegarnished with lots of irony and social criticism, crowned by a bitterly evil humorous dessert, as black as the darkest chocolate.

At Disney+: In The Menu, an exclusive star dinner quickly turns into a horror trip for its guests

Chef Slowik (Ralph Fiennes) is probably the most celebrated star chef of his time. He has received all the stars that Michelin has to award, has won prizes and… Culinary art taken to new heights. Getting a table at his ultra-exclusive restaurant on the remote island of Hawthorne is an impossibility.

Food nerd Tyler (Nicholas Hoult) is all the more thrilled when he receives an invitation for a very special dinner Slowiks receives. He invites the skeptical Margot (Anya Taylor-Joy), who finds it difficult to share Tyler’s fascination with such abstract cuisine. Together with the crème de la crème of fine dining and other celebrities, they set off for Hawthorne.

Slowik’s dishes promise to give those present a unforgettable experience to prepare. However, no one can imagine how unforgettable it will be upon arrival. Because the chef has very special plans for his selected audience this evening.

The Menu on Disney+ is terrifying, hilarious and absolutely delicious entertainment

Anyone who sits down at Slowik’s table can expect a lot. Mark Mylod uses exquisite ingredients to conjure up a real feast for all fans of nerve-racking tension and good humor. As often as you hammer your fingernails into the sofa in shock, you will too laugh heartily – and at the same time ask yourself whether you are allowed to do that too.

Mylod takes a bitter, captivating look at fan and critic culture, but at the same time also at the artist who places himself on a god-like pedestal. He takes aim at every toxic form of behavior in our society and everyone gets rid of their fat. Clichés are undermined and the finale is truly something special.

There’s blood, sauce and chocolate, mixed together in a horrifying and amusing way. And in the end, you leave the film hungry for the stunning images. The Menu keeps all promiseswhich the trailer does, and puts a peppermint leaf on top.
