The 16-year-old who is sentenced for the murder of a gang leader at Emporia in Malmö claims that he carried out the acts on his own initiative – but GW considers this to be unlikely.
Now he is sentenced to four years of closed youth care, something that will save his life, GW believes.
– But we shouldn’t be surprised that there will be new troubles once he is released and becomes reachable, he says.
Last Friday, the verdict came against the 16-year-old who was suspected of murder in the shopping center Emporia in Malmö. He is sentenced to the maximum sentence for his age – four years in closed youth care for murder, aggravated weapons offense and causing danger to another. He is also convicted of minor drug offences.
– It was exactly what I said a month ago, in fact, that he would receive the maximum sentence. It is equivalent to 6 years in prison and you cannot sentence a 16-year-old to more than that.
GW believes that the punishment is no disadvantage for him if you consider his own safety.
– His victim belongs to an organization with a very high capital of violence, so it is probably not wrong that he is behind bars considering his own welfare. When he gets out, he will be very high on their wish list and they will not mince words when it comes to exacting their revenge.
GW: He was used because of his age
The man who was murdered was a 31-year-old who was identified as the gang leader of the Satudarah criminal motorcycle gang. The 16-year-old’s version is that he would have been cheated in a drug deal with and therefore took revenge in this way. But the police’s theory is that the 39-year-old was murdered on behalf of other people and seven people are in custody as suspects in the investigation.
– In close connection with arresting him, those to whom he is on his way home are also taken. And that way, you have another seven in the bag, older than him, who are very likely involved in this on another level. The reason why they have used him in particular is his young age, says Leif GW.
“Very sad”
The boy was on the run from an SIS residence when the murder took place and now he ends up again in an SIS home for four years of closed youth care.
– He was on the run from a similar previous placement and now he has been brought back. And, as I said, it will at least keep him alive in the near term. But we shouldn’t be surprised if new troubles occur once he is released and becomes reachable. Because he has fallen for the wrong people. You shift between being a murderer and a victim of murder, that’s roughly how it looks. It is very sad, says GW.
