According to the news published in the British media, Batty went on holiday to Marbella in the south of Spain with his grandfather and mother in September 2017. There were reports that Batty, who was 11 years old at the time, was last seen in Malaga in October 2017 after disappearing in Marbella.
A COURIER PASSING ON THE ROAD FOUND IT
The child, who has been missing since then, was seen walking on the side of the road early on Wednesday morning by a courier near the Revel region of France.
Courier Fabien Accidini stated that Batty, to whom he offered help, initially introduced himself differently, but later told him everything he had experienced.
Accidini stated that Batty had been walking at night and resting during the day for 4 days and that he was trying to reach a city where the British mission was located, and noted that he only had a flashlight, a backpack, 100 euros and a skateboard.
“I WANT TO RETURN HOME”
Explaining that he gave his phone to his grandmother to message her on Facebook, Accidini said Batty said, “Hello grandmother, my name is Alex. I am in Toulouse, France. I hope you see my message. I love you and want to return home.” she stated that she wrote.
Grandmother Susan Caruana spoke to the British newspaper The Sun. Caruana noted that he embarked on different adventures to create an alternative life for Batty, whom his grandfather and mother did not want to send to school.
Caruana stated that his mother and grandfather lived with various traveling communities in Morocco and France in search of such a life.
While Batty stated that she did not know where her mother was, French authorities announced that they estimated that the mother, Melanie Batty, was currently in a remote part of the Pyrenees Mountains with a traveling group.
COMMUNAL LIFE LIVING ALTERNATIVE LIFE IN AREAS FAR FROM CIVILIZATION
French officials also shared Batty’s story with the press. Accordingly, Batty, his mother and grandfather lived an alternative commune life in areas far from civilization as a group of 10 people for a while.
Following the group’s decision to continue his life in Finland, Batty fled “desiring to return to his life in England”. It is estimated that Grandfather David died 6 months ago while living with such a community.
Manchester police also made a statement on the issue. The police announced that Batty had a video call with his grandmother yesterday and that he would come to England in a few days.
The details of how he spent the last 6 years are not yet clear, but Batty explained that he has been living with a community that leads an alternative life for a while. (AA)
