“He gets paid to…”

The SHL match between Luleå and Växjö heated up considerably.
Now Juhani Tyrväinen directs harsh criticism at Emil Sylvegård.
– He gets paid to keep going, says the Finn to Piteå-Tidningen.

The SHL meeting Luleå-Växjö on Tuesday offered playoff hockey when emotions overflowed and anger took hold. The match ended 4-3 to Luleå against league leader Växjö and at the final whistle a huge brawl broke out on the ice.

Tyrväinen’s criticism

Robert Rosen tackled Jonas Berglund in the final stages of the match and it quickly escalated into a big fight between the players. The day after the match, Luleå announces that Berglund will be out for four weeks after being injured by the tackle.

The star player Juhani Tyrvainen also ended up in several dusts with the rawhide Emil Sylvegård and the Finn now directs harsh criticism at the opponent.
– I think he gets paid to keep going. I wonder what is in his contract, but it feels like he talks more than plays ice hockey, says Tyrväinen to Piteå-Tidningen.

Sylvegård’s answer

The former Luleå player Sylvegård mostly shrugs his shoulders at Tyrväinen’s pass after the match. And then fights back by mixing in the knitting needle Brendan Shinnimin in the game.
– Haha, I’m going to play ice hockey, but that also includes standing up for my teammates. I can put a question back to Luleå then about what is in Shinnimin’s contract. He jumps in from the booth and gets involved, says the Växjö player to the local newspaper.

Luleå climbs to sixth place after the lead-heavy victory and now has a hold on the top tier of the SHL table. While Växjö is still first despite the loss and has two points down on second place Färjestad in the battle for the series victory.
