The sequel to Gladiator will soon be in cinemas. Pedro Pascal is also in the film. For him, filming was a real challenge. His co-star in particular made Pascal suddenly feel very old.
What awaits us in Gladiator 2? The sequel to Ridley Scott’s modern classic has been a long time coming. Over 20 years have passed since the first part, which was released in 2000.
Gladiator tells the story of Maximus, who was played by Russel Crowe at the time. In the sequel, we see what happens to his son Licius Verus. The role is played by Paul Mescal. Other top-class stars such as Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal are also involved.
The latter remembers the filming in particular, especially because it was very exhausting.

In Game of Thrones, Pascal fought like a young god
In Game of Thrones, Pascal played the role of Prince Oberyn Martell, even though someone else was originally planned for the role. If you’ve seen the series, you probably remember the duel between Pedro Pascal’s character and the “Mountain”, a giant you don’t like to mess with. A scene that Pascal later described as very relaxing.
Pascal appears extremely confident in this fight, which is also due to his nasty tactics. He is agile, fast and puts his opponent, who is physically superior to him, under pressure. If you look at this scene, you might get the impression that Pascal still finds such a fight easy today.
But on the set of Gladiator 2, the actor had to learn that he had grown older. A fight against Paul Mescal’s character in particular pushed him to his physical limits. He describes it as follows:

To fight someone so fit, so talented, so young… Besides the fact that Ridley is a genius, Paul is one of the main reasons I decided to do this experiment with my poor body.

It is not surprising that there are physical differences between the two. After all, Pedro Pascal is now 49 years old, while Paul Mescal is only 28 years old.
