An image showing that the robot was able to escape from the ‘prison’ where it was kept by turning into liquid revealed those unbelievable moments. The robot melted into a liquid to escape from a small prison cell, then leaked through the bars and reshaped on the other side of the bars.
The robots also demonstrated the ability to jump over ditches, climb, and recombine after splitting and working together to move objects.
“Giving robots the ability to switch between liquid and solid states gives them more functionality,” said engineer Chengfeng Pan of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in China.
