(Finance) – Ensures, the insurance services company of Central Cash Group, financed AIRC Foundation for the establishment of a two-year scholarship, which will contribute to the training of a young researcher in projects dedicated to the fight against pediatric cancers. The winner will be selected by AIRC through a national call, which will open in April 2022 and close in December 2022, and will have the opportunity to work, from January 2023 to January 2025, at one of the research institutes of excellence on the national territory.
According to the AIRTUM, Italian Cancer Registries Association, every year in Italy, 1,400 children under the age of 14 and 900 children between the ages of 15 and 19 are affected by cancer. These types of tumors make up about 1% of all malignancies. 5-year survival from diagnosis exceeds 80% for leukemia and is around 70% for solid tumors.
Assicura and Cassa Centrale Banca thus confirm their commitment to research and health protection, together with the AIRC Foundation, which is today the main private funder of cancer research in Italy, with 4.5 million supporters and the commitment of 20,000 volunteers.
AIRC has allocated over 136 million euros in 2022 to support 856 research projects and training programs dedicated to young talents. 5,000 researchers are now working at universities, hospitals and institutions throughout Italy.
