“He earns more than my entire family combined.”

The Luxembourgish Twitch streamer LetsHugo was recently the focus of broadcaster RTL in his home country, which published a small documentary about him. In the interview, among other things, he talked about his monthly income and provided interesting insights into his life as a successful content creator.

Who is LetsHugo? LetsHugo, whose real name is Hugo, is a 20-year-old streamer from Luxembourg who speaks standard German in his streams. As a result, he was able to expand his target group far beyond the borders of his home country and is among the 50 most viewed streamers on German Twitch (via SullyGnome).

He developed a passion for video games in his youth and later started streaming. In July 2019, Hugo decided to significantly increase his presence on Twitch. His big breakthrough came in March 2023 when he appeared as a participant in the “No Food Challenge” of his Twitch colleague Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler.

What does the streamer say about his income? In the documentation that has now been published, RTL estimated LetsHugo’s monthly income at 20,000 to 40,000 euros. The streamer put this information into perspective and emphasized that it could be true in “good months”, but that this would not be the case in January 2024, for example.

“More? No no no. So I’m telling you now, this month will definitely be less than 20k,” LetsHugo explained. At the same time, he added somewhat jokingly: “To be at the top, you have to be down to earth again. To jump off.”

LetsHugo’s comments sparked controversial reactions in the chat as the streamer watched the documentary with his fans.

Some viewers expressed outrage at his earnings and compared it to their own living standards. Comments like “He earns more than my entire family combined” or “You earn more than 10 times what I do” became more frequent.

In particular, the fact that the streamer only seems to speak of a “good month” when his income is more than 20,000 euros is difficult for viewers to grasp.

“MrBeast is the American version of LetsHugo”

What are the streamer’s goals? Although LetsHugo emphasized that he did not receive any money for the interview, he indicated that he is always looking for new ways to increase his success. In the documentary he was even compared to the famous American YouTuber MrBeast.

Despite its success, LetsHugo continues to aim higher. He explained in an interview with RTL that he would like to continue to advance not only in Luxembourg, but also in Germany. His goal is to climb “to the top 5, top 4, top 3, top 2 and finally to number 1”.

Back in November 2023, LetsHugo made headlines when he reacted in a clip to a reality TV show in which a participant considered 1,500 euros to be a lot of money. LetsHugo commented dryly: “A stream”.
