When Marko Mijatovic was driving home from his restaurant at half past two on Saturday night, the ground suddenly opened up.
– I was heading towards the E6 and started to increase the speed a little and after a while it felt like the car was flying. I had no contact with the car, I could not steer, he says to SVT Nyheter Väst.
Marko Mijatovic describes the experience as surreal.
– What is going on? Did I go off the road or what happened? I tried to open the door, but it didn’t work. Then I panicked a bit and hit the door with my elbow and it opened.
He had driven straight into a hole in the area of the E6 outside Stenungsund that was destroyed by a landslide. He finds it hard to estimate how deep he ended up, but he says it was deep enough “to not just climb up”.
It was pitch black outside and pouring rain. Shocked, Marko Mijatovic got out onto the road and started walking towards the community.
– After a while, fire engines arrived. I walked in the middle of the road and waved and they stopped and asked what happened, he says.
Marko Mijatovic managed with a sore elbow and is back at work the next day.
– I’m a bit shaken and have a bit of pain here and there, but I’m still happy that it went the way it did, he says.
