He dropped out of school after the 9th grade and is now one of the biggest streamers on German Twitch: This is LetsHugo

At the age of 20, the Luxembourger “LetsHugo” is one of the biggest streamers on the German-speaking Twitch. We at MeinMMO introduce you to the Content Creator.

What streamer is this? LetsHugo is a Luxembourgish streamer. In his streams he mostly speaks High German, which is why he has built up a huge German community.

The 20-year-old is now followed by more than 600,000 people on Twitch – that’s almost as many as his home country has inhabitants. His fans love him for his humorous and somewhat offbeat style. But how did he even make it this far?

Twitch streamer Unge, now appearing as Raik, played an important role in LetsHugo’s career:

It all started with Minecraft

This is how it all started: Hugo made his first steps on Twitch in 2016 in the block game Minecraft. As is well known, this has already made other streamers great. However, the large crowds of spectators did not appear for the time being: Hugo streamed for a long time on average in front of less than 10 spectators.

In July 2019, Hugo then began to stream significantly more and more regularly. Mathematically, that could fit with his statement that he dropped out of school after the 9th grade to devote himself entirely to his hobby. In addition to Minecraft, he then also included categories such as Just Chatting or various casual games in his streams.

Hugo streamed for years without showing his face

What was his career like? With the increased streaming time, the viewers at Hugo also tuned in. By October 2022, he had already reached an average of several hundred viewers and that relatively consistently over several months.

The streamer also made a name for himself in the Minecraft community by sharing videos with BastiGHG and attending events like Suro and Craft Attack. Hugo had built up a community with almost 150,000 followers without ever showing his face.

It wasn’t until February 2022 that he revealed his face in a co-stream with Simon “Unge” Wiefels, acting almost like a big brother and encouraging the younger streamer (via YouTube).

Then, on October 29, 2022, Hugo started a sellout stream that lasted a full 78 days. Kevin “Papaplatte” Teller has had great success with this type of stream, in which content creators carry out specific actions for donations.

With this marathon stream, the then 19-year-old broke the mark of more than 1,200 viewers on average. He was also able to gain almost 28,000 new followers. Hugo had similar success with a second sellout stream from December 1st to 23rd.

He even got a little emotional towards the end of the streaming marathon, saying it was one of the best times he’s ever had.

hungry for success

This is how he got his big breakthrough: In March 2023, Hugo finally made the big breakthrough. The streamer was a participant in the “No Food Challenge” of his Twitch colleague Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler. He had previously attended his football event.

Together with other streamers, they wanted to do without food and high-calorie drinks for a whole week. Even though Hugo had to stop after just 5 days for health reasons, he still won the hearts of viewers and other content creators.

Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris, who became a permanent guest of the challenge and enjoyed tempting the participants with temptingly scented dishes, even gave the younger streamer some valuable tips:

Hugo is everywhere

He is so successful now: Since then, Hugo has always been at the start. Whether on the motorhome tour with Kevin “Papaplatte” Teller or the big influencer dodgeball tournament, which ended painfully for the streamer. With an average of over 4,400 viewers, he is already one of the larger German-speaking streamers.

In the last 30 days he was ranked 11th among the most watched German streamers. In addition, no other was able to gain as many new followers this year as the now 20-year-old (via sullygnome).

It is therefore becoming apparent that Hugo is also successful beyond his appearances with larger streamers and can now stand on his own two feet on Twitch. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the young streamer.

In the meantime, it is no longer so easy for Hugo to stroll unnoticed through an event, as was recently shown at the Dokomi anime fair. There, LetsHugo hid behind a mask, but one fan still managed to snag a photo with the streamer.
