He canceled the ‘Atatürk’ series… Disney Plus lost millions of members in 3 months!

It has been announced that Disney Plus, the international digital film and series platform, which became the subject of discussion after the decision not to broadcast the Atatürk TV series, lost 11.7 million members in the last 3 months in the global market.

Announcing its third quarter financial report of this year, Disney stated that the number of global users decreased by 7.4 percent as of July 1.

In the last 3 months, a total of 11.7 million users left the platform, which pulls content from some countries. The vast majority of member losses came from India, where national content was removed.

In addition, the streaming loss of the platform has continued since last year, and Disney suffered a loss of $ 512 million in the third quarter.

Disney Plus, which has suffered losses since the last year with the reduction of the impact of the Kovid-19 epidemic and the reopening of movie theaters, decided to stop supporting local productions in many countries, including Turkey.

In this context, the platform, which removed original Turkish productions such as “Recep İvedik 7”, “New Year’s Eve”, “Bursa Nightingale”, drew a reaction in Turkey after it decided not to broadcast its own production of Atatürk on the international platform.

It was claimed that the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) in the USA was behind this decision of the platform.

Cenk Soner, General Manager of The Walt Disney Company Turkey, made a statement on August 2 after the criticisms of the Turkish government and the public, “We bring our Atatürk content to our audience on the 100th anniversary of our Republic. After the first television special version of Atatürk, which we planned as two films, was broadcast on our FOX channel, two films were released. It will be in theaters and later on FOX screens.” had used the words.

Disney’s loss of 11.7 million members was also shared on The Spectator Index, which has 2.4 million followers on Twitter. (AA)
