Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that his country is not a party to the crisis in Ukraine and does not want to be affected by the sanctions against Russia.
According to the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Vang exchanged views on the current situation in Ukraine in a phone call with his Spanish counterpart, Jose Manuel Albares Bueno, yesterday.

Spanish Minister Bueno stated that the situation in Ukraine threatens peace and stability in Europe, and that his country hopes that the war will be stopped as soon as possible through dialogue and diplomatic means, and that he wishes China to play a positive role in this regard.
Wang, on the other hand, noted that China, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, has encouraged peace talks since the beginning, and that he hopes the fourth round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine will lead to acceptable progress for all parties.
Pointing out that the crisis in Ukraine is the result of the security concerns that have accumulated in Europe over the years, Vang said that while China encourages the end of the war with the ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine and peace talks, Europe and Russia can help each other’s security through dialogue and negotiations on an equal basis. He emphasized that he hoped that he would find reasonable solutions to his concerns and create a balanced, effective and sustainable European security architecture.
Noting that China has never supported the resolution of problems with sanctions and has always opposed unilateral sanctions that have no equivalent in international law, Vang stated that such steps will reduce the importance of international rules, and that he believes that they will adversely affect the welfare of all the peoples of the country.
