Security is being increased at Colombia’s Supreme Court in the capital, Bogotá, due to suspected plans for a terrorist attack.
It was during house searches on Tuesday that the police found ammunition and explosives as well as a model of the courthouse. This is stated by Chief Judge Gerson Chaverra, who does not mention anything about suspected motives behind the possible attack plans.
The courthouse was partially destroyed in 1985 after it was stormed by members of the M-19 guerrilla movement. To regain control of the building, the military shelled it for several hours. Over 100 people were killed in the unrest, among them eleven judges.
