Wallin had appealed the verdict first to the Court of Appeal and then to the High Court, which has now decided not to grant leave to appeal.
Thus, the judgment in Svea Court of Appeal applies.
Wallin was sentenced in 2019 for defamation after accusing Fredrik Virtanen of a crime on social media. She was sentenced to a suspended sentence and daily fines. The court also decided that she should pay SEK 90,000 in damages to Virtanen.
Virtanen had also appealed the verdict to the High Court. He wanted higher damages, while Cissi Wallin wanted the prosecution to be dismissed. She primarily wanted to be acquitted, and secondly that the court would give “a less intrusive penalty”.
