Have you been around the ringtones offered by Apple on your iPhone and you really want to stand out? Download an original ringtone for free and install it on your mobile, without going through iTunes.
With iOS, Apple offers 28 ringtones to use to personalize your iPhone to which are added 25 other ringtones present since the beginnings of the iPhone. Maybe you’ve been around or maybe you also want to know that it’s your iPhone that rings when you hear the first few bars of a ringtone and not the neighbor’s. To personalize your device, you have several solutions. Of course, Apple highlights the sound files that it makes available on its online store. There are thus excerpts from songs in the air or artists more or less known. Good idea… except that the bad surprise comes from the invoice. Such a ringtone is sold for € 1.29! It is also or even more expensive than a whole title!
Another solution is to prepare a ringtone yourself from a music file that you already have. An operation that requires some handling (read our article to find out more) but which, in the end, will not cost you a cent.
Finally, you can also bet on an app offering free ringtones to download. They abound on the App Store since its inception and can also be sources of scams (hidden or forced subscription to a service for example). Fortunately, there are some pretty healthy apps out there that won’t try to extort even the smallest dollar from you like Zedge, Ringtone for iPhone, Best ringtones 2021, or Ringtones 2021 to name just a few. However, who says free content also says quid pro quo. You will therefore not escape the advertising which can be very intrusive. For example, it will be necessary to agree to watch a 30-second video to access a file or to succeed in distinguishing which button to press to download the file and not access an advertiser’s site.
Finally, note that all the apps offering ringtones for downloading work on the same principle. While they allow you to download audio files, they do not have permission to place them in the right place in iOS. A constraint linked to the restrictions imposed by Apple. Also, a few more steps are needed before you can use them. Some apps invite you to go through the iTunes software on PC or Music on macOS, to recover the files from the iPhone, put them in the correct format and then put them back on the device. Kind of like when you make a ringtone yourself from one of your songs. Others suggest using Apple’s Garage Band app (free and available on iOS) to edit files and place them in the correct folder. A method which seems simpler to us and which does not require the use of a computer. For the demonstration, we will use the Ringtones-Music 2021 app.
Ringtones to Music 2021 app offers hundreds of audio files to use as ringtones for your iPhone. It is one of the few not overflowing with advertisements.
► Start by transferring Ringtones 2021 to your device and open the app.
Download Music Ringtones 2021 for iOS
► At launch, refuse to allow the application to follow you in your activities on the Web.
► Press the three lines at the top left then choose Categories.
► Various categories are displayed. To access those flanked by a banner Unblockyou will have to watch a 15 or 30 second video ad.
► Listen to the different ringtones offered by pressing the icon in the form of disk to the left.
► If you like a title, press her name. A new page is displayed. Press on the arrow pointing down to download the corresponding file.
► In the window that appears, select Save to Files.
► Then choose On my iphone and press Save top right.
► The file is now ready to be processed by Garage Band to be used as a ringtone.
Garage Band is Apple’s music creation app. It is available free on the App Store for all iPhone or iPad users. It is thanks to it that the audio file will be able to be transformed into a ringtone.
► Start by bringing Garage Band back to your iPhone.
► Launch the app and press To continue.
► The Garage Band screen is displayed. Tap the tab Tracks then scroll left to Audio recorder.
► Now tap on the icon that looks like a ribbon top right. In the menu that opens, choose Files.
► Press Browse items from the Files app.
► Select the file you downloaded with the Ringtones 2021 app (Jazzy_detective in our example).
► The file is then selected. Its name appears in the Garage Band menu.
► Long press on the file and then move it to the track Audio recorder Garage Band (make sure the song is sticking to the far left of the track so as not to have white at the start of the ringtone).
► The song is now ready to be transformed as a ringtone. Press on the arrow pointing down, placed at the top left of the Garage Band interface and press My songs.
► The file is ready. Long press on its icon. In the menu that opens, choose To share.
► Three options are displayed. Choose Alarm in the center of the screen.
► You can rename the song to return it to its original title. Then press Export.
► The export starts. When the process is complete, press Use sound as …
► All you have to do is make your choice to use the sound as a standard ringtone, apply it to the SMS (not recommended for the song lasts more than 3 seconds) or even assign it to a contact.
