England are so far undefeated in the European Championship. So is Sweden too.
Then Kosovare Asllani sends a cocky pass to the host nation ahead of tonight’s semi-final thriller.
– They have done well, but they haven’t met us yet, she says.
A place in the EC final at historic Wembley is at stake. Sweden against England. Two teams that no one has managed to challenge so far during the championship, two teams with strong form who will settle for a ticket for a continued chance to win a championship gold.
Has been one of Sweden’s foremost
Sweden traveled to the British Isles as one of the favorites to take home the entire tournament. Blågult had a somewhat tough start to the EC adventure after a cross against the Netherlands and then a narrow win with the odd goal against Switzerland.
But against Portugal, it was a real icebreaker – and in the quarter-finals, the Swedes bombarded Belgium’s goal even though the final score was only 1-0 after a goal by Linda Sembrant in stoppage time.
But one player who has been in good shape throughout the championship, and has been Sweden’s biggest star, is Kosovare Asllani. She has excelled from her offensive position and has really been the tip of the scales when the matches were weighed.
The cocky fit
The 32-year-old is looking forward to Tuesday night’s semi-finals, and says she loves playing the biggest matches.
– It will be incredibly fun. Magically. We meet the home team and it is special to do so. They will have home support, but we are incredibly ready, Asllani tells Radiosporten.
She goes on to say that she enjoys the great responsibility that rests on her shoulders.
– As always, I get to contribute a lot with my experience and continue to get chances from the start. I always leave a soccer field completely drained of energy.
The Swedish superstar also pays tribute to England, but also takes the opportunity to send a cocky pass before the thrilling match.
– They (England) have had good results, but they haven’t met us yet, she says.
