Has the month of Ramadan started or not? The fasting decision was different in those countries: We did not see the crescent

Has the month of Ramadan started or not The fasting

Saudi Arabia, which saw the crescent in the sky on Sunday night, started fasting. Many countries, including Türkiye, started the month of Ramadan on Monday. However, there were also countries that decided differently.

THOSE WHO SEE THE RAMADAN CRESCENT STARTED FASTING

According to the news of Saudi Arabia’s official news agency SPA, in the written statement made by the Royal Court, it was stated that the Ramadan crescent was seen and Monday, March 11 will be the first day of Ramadan.

In the statements made by Yemen, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, Palestine, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it was stated that the month of Ramadan will start on Monday, March 11.

In the statement made by the Egyptian Fatwa Institution and the Sunni Foundation in Iraq, it was informed that the month of Ramadan will start on Monday, March 11. It was announced that the Ramadan crescent was also seen in Algeria, Tunisia, Sudan and Syria and that tomorrow is the first day of Ramadan.

THESE COUNTRIES WILL START ON TUESDAY

Jordan and Oman announced that Ramadan will start on Tuesday due to the absence of the crescent.

Likewise, Libya and Morocco announced that Tuesday will be considered the first day of Ramadan because the crescent cannot be seen. Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei’s office also announced that the month of Ramadan will begin on Tuesday.

There may be differences in the beginning of Ramadan because some Islamic countries base their view on the crescent’s visibility in their own country rather than on its visibility elsewhere in the world.

The Presidency of Religious Affairs in Turkey also bases its determination of the beginning of Ramadan and holidays on the crescent being seen from anywhere in the world (ihtilaf-ı metali), rather than the local sighting of the crescent, which has long been adopted by the majority of Islamic scholars.
