See more about the potential home field advantage in the clip above.

What does it really take to become a Nobel laureate? Nobel historian Gustav Källstrand believes that there are certain characteristics that unite many of them. Among other things, most prize winners are of course very knowledgeable. But they also stand out in terms of persistence, curiosity and courage.

– A rather interesting thing is that quite a few Nobel laureates have had other laureates as supervisors in their careers. But the interesting thing is that it is about supervisors who later received the Nobel Prize. They therefore choose future prize winners as supervisors.

Gustav Källstrand believes that the prize winners have a nose for which researchers are talented.

– This means that the people who will receive the award themselves later have a nose for which researchers are good, who are researching the right subjects and are familiar with the important questions. It is important to be able to locate within which fields there are efforts to be made.
