Charlotte Baris: Last Sunday, like more than 11 million French people, you may have followed the election night live on your television. And at 8 p.m., when the results were displayed, this is perhaps the reaction that crossed your mind too. No one, or almost no one, had anticipated these results. With the entire La Loupe team, we obviously said to ourselves that we had to dedicate an episode to this new political situation.
Once the emotion has subsided, it is clear that there was no clear winner in these early legislative elections. The National Rally unexpectedly underperformed, but obtained a record number of seats in the Assembly. The former presidential majority saved the day. Even if it lost more than 80 deputies. And the New Popular Front came out on top, but struggled to agree on the strategy to follow.
The question arises: where is France going? Has the dissolution caused by Emmanuel Macron made the country ungovernable? Exceptional circumstances require exceptional measures. Today we will directly interview the journalists of L’Express in the editorial office.
