Beverage manufacturer Hartwall announced on Wednesday that it had terminated its marketing cooperation with Helsinki Halli Oy.
Hartwall, the main sponsor of the hall, was removed from the Helsinki arena today, Wednesday. The hall is known as the Hartwall Arena.
Hartwall announced on Wednesday that it had terminated its marketing cooperation with Helsinki Halli Oy. Hartwall is one of Finland’s largest beverage manufacturers. The company has sponsored the Helsinki Arena since its completion in 1997.
The decision is based on Russia’s offensive war against Ukraine less than a week ago.
– The war started by Russia is an absurd and reprehensible act. We no longer engage in marketing cooperation with Helsinki Halli Oy due to the war in Russia. In the future, the arena will not bear Hartwall’s name, and the Hartwall logo has been removed from the arena’s wall, says Hartwall’s CEO Kalle Järvinen in the bulletin.
The arena is partly a Russian-owned hall.
The arena has been owned by Arena Events oy since 2013. The company is owned by a Western sanctions list due to Russian hostilities Gennady Timtshenko mixed Arcade and Boris Rotenberg. They bought the hall from the one who built it From Harry Harkimolta.
The Hockey Federation announced after the start of the War in Ukraine that Lion shirts and championship pennants would be lowered from the roof of Hartwall Arena. On the roof have been Raimo Helmisen, Timo Jutilan, Saku Koivun, Jari Kurrin, Jere Lehtisen, Ville Peltonen, Teemu Selänteen and Kimmo Timosen shirts.
Finland will host the Men’s Ice Hockey World Championships in May. Finland will play its match in Tampere, but the second block is to be held at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki. That may change.
