What is the performance fee?
The power charge means that the electricity grid cost can be lower if you spread out the use and use electricity when demand is low. However, the cost can be more expensive for households that consume a lot of electricity, especially when demand is high.
Before January 1, 2027, all electricity grid companies in Sweden must introduce a price model with an impact fee, something that Nyheter24 previously reported on.

Harsh criticism – many households are affected
Many households will be affected when the new price model is introduced, and the industry organization Villaägarna is one of several that direct sharp criticism of the impact fee. They believe that it will make it more difficult for households to cope with everyday life without risking high electricity bills.
“The homeowners are critical of this. It is not reasonable to expect average households to have constant control over their power consumption. People’s everyday lives do not work that way, and it is not possible to plan life as in an economics textbook.”, they write in one statement.
Madeleine Hermanssoncoordinator for consumer contact at the Energy Market Inspectorate, believes that the amount of complaints they have received is many.
– We get a lot of calls and emails from upset people who want answers. It is difficult to be an electricity customer today, says she.
The Energy Market Inspectorate, on the other hand, believes that the fee should be seen as a way to smooth out consumption peaks, and avoid power peaks that can lead to problems in the electricity system.
“With power-based pricing, electricity users should be given incentives to spread out their electricity use so that we avoid power peaks that can lead to problems in the electricity system. Electricity use is usually high during the morning and evening, and low during the late evening, night and early morning. A more even load on the electricity grid has a number of advantages, including that more people can use the existing electricity grid and that it can generally contribute to lower electricity grid costs and a lower electricity price,” they write on their homepage.
