Harsh criticism of the head of the authority after the Cold facts report

The Authority for Psychological Defense Director General Magnus Hjort reported Cold Facts to the Review Board.
Now he is met with both resignation demands and harsh criticism for his attempts to force changes in the program “Undercover in the troll factory”.
It goes against the ban on censorship and it goes against the constitution, says Peter Danowsky, a lawyer with extensive experience in media matters, to SvD.
“It is directly inappropriate”, writes Mårten Schultz in the same
newspaper.

The authority for psychological defense, MPF, receives further criticism for its report of TV4’s “Cold facts” to the Review Board after the revelations about the Sweden Democrats’ anonymous social media accounts.

MPF believes that interviews with representatives of the authority have been taken out of context and has demanded that the short clips be removed from TV4 Play.

Kalla fakta’s responsible publisher Fredrick Malmberg has previously said that it is “clear” that the statements are part of a collage to depict the social debate.

“Ignorant”

MPF not only demands that TV4 make a correction. They also want the Review Board to order TV4 to remove the clips.

– As far as I can judge, that requirement lacks any legal support. It goes against the ban on censorship and it goes against the constitution, says Peter Danowsky SvD.

Anne Lagercrantz, CEO of the interest organization Udgivarnas, describes it as strange that MPF “enters the debate in this way”.

– It is also ignorant that Hjort, as head of the authority, states in the report that the Review Board must order TV4 to remove the clips. It is an exclusive responsibility for a responsible publisher, certainly not for the Review Board, says Lagercrantz to Sveriges Radio Echo.

“Should resign”

Last Sunday, DN’s editor-in-chief Peter Wolodarski wrote in a column that MPF’s director general Magnus Hjort should resign.

After the statement, MPF’s head of communications and deputy authority head Mikael Tofvesson liked a post on X where a user wrote that it is instead Peter Wolodarski who should resign.

“But what is happening?”, wrote Mårten Schultz, professor of civil law X in response to Tofvesson’s like.

After the attention surrounding the post, Tofvesson has said that he uses X as a private person.
