Starting next year, a new food policy will come into effect at SVT. The food policy means that lunches at meetings with more than ten people must be completely vegetarian. The decision has provoked strong reactions.

Edward Blom rages: “So damn sick”
Among the critics are the gastronome and the media profile Edward Blom who directed harsh criticism at SVT’s decision. In a post on X Edward writes like this:
“So damn sick, you have to bring a lunch bag if you have a recording”
He also believes that the decision is a political stance that threatens SVT’s credibility as an impartial actor.
“The big problem is that SVT cannot be seen as impartial after this but as a rather extreme political movement,” he writes.

SVT defends the decision
In a statement to the newspaper The journalist SVT defends the decision.
– When it comes to lunch food at larger events, we will in future choose vegetarian because it significantly lowers the climate impact compared to, for example, meat dishes, says Michael Osterlunddivision manager for the program division at SVT, to the newspaper.
