Harrison Ford turned down the chance for an Oscar role
Syriana is a thriller drama by Stephen Gaghan (The Fantastic Voyage of Dr. Doolittle), in which Clooney, Matt Damon and Christopher Plummer play. The film revolves around US oil companies, which together with the CIA Violently influencing the politics of an Arab country want. Clooney plays the role of agent Bob Barnes.
According to the Irish Examiner, Ford regrets not taking the role:
I saw part of Syriana recently and I wish I had accepted the role. It would have been George’s role. […] At the time I didn’t think the material was authentic enough, but I made a mistake. […] Everything that bothered me was changed after I refused.

Perhaps Ford is particularly annoyed by the rejection because it meant he lost an Oscar: his replacement George Clooney won the Academy Award for his role in Syriana at the 2006 Academy Awards.
