US Democratic presidential candidate and current vice president Terrible Harris said on Sunday that he is not worried about the Republicans Donald Trump’s and the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu of recent discussions.
Earlier this week, Trump boasted of almost daily conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Trump, who previously described himself as a protector of Israel, said while campaigning in the state of Georgia that Netanyahu’s government should “finish the problem” it has in the war against Hamas.
While talking about Netanyahu, Trump called the prime minister by his nickname Bibi.
– Bibi called me yesterday, called me the day before, the Republican candidate said.
– We have a very good relationship, Trump described his relationship with Netanyahu.
When Harris was asked on Sunday if the communication between Trump and Netanyahu could undermine the efforts of the current US administration in the Middle East, the vice president answered firmly “no” and repeated his own position on the conflict in the region.
Speaking on Sunday on CBS News Harris also called on Iran not to respond to Israel’s attack the night before Saturday.
– Don’t answer, that would be a mistake. We are ready to defend Israel as we have done in the past, he said on CBS’s Face the Nation program.
According to Harris, however, the most important thing is that the situation in the Middle East region calms down.
– We are working through diplomatic and other channels to ensure the easing of tensions, he added.
In an interview, Harris declined to comment on intelligence about a possible Iranian response, but emphasized that the United States “has made it clear that an Iranian response would be a mistake and should not be made.”
– I will keep you informed, Harris said, when he was asked about sanctions, should Iran respond to an Israeli strike.
