Harris: Trump has ‘desecrated’ military cemetery

Kamala Harris believes Trump has desecrated a military cemetery he visited earlier this week.
The statement comes after Trump took photos and videos at the site, despite a cemetery employee saying this is not allowed.
In one of the photos, a smiling Trump can be seen giving the thumbs up, together with relatives of a slain soldier.

On August 26, Trump and his associates visited a military cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, after being invited there by relatives of soldiers who were killed when the United States withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021. TT writes.

Before the visit, Trump and his staff must have been warned that political campaigning is not allowed in the cemetery. But when you got there, you both took pictures and filmed. In one of the pictures, Trump is smiling and giving a thumbs up, next to relatives of a slain soldier.

Employee was pushed aside

When an employee at the cemetery pointed out that taking photos and filming was prohibited, he was allegedly pushed aside. This is confirmed by the US military, which in a statement from Thursday wrote that a cemetery employee was “brutally pushed aside” after asking Trump’s employees to stop filming.

But the Trump campaign claims it received a special permit and denies the allegations. The employee who spoke up is called a “despicable” individual with mental problems.

The military, on the other hand, writes that the person “acted professionally” and calls the incident “unfortunate”.

“Desecrated Holy Ground”

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has reacted strongly to the images. In a post on X, she writes:

“Let me be clear: the former president desecrated sacred ground in order to score political points.”

She continues:

“If there is one thing we Americans can all agree on, it is that our veterans, serving soldiers and their families should be honored, never disparaged, and in all circumstances treated with the utmost respect and gratitude.”
