The measurement was so surprising that it went viral and US newspapers and television programs made special reports about it. In the state of Iowa, which is widely seen as solidly Republican and not counted among the swing states, the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has suddenly lost.

She now leads Republican Donald Trump by three percentage points, according to a recurring opinion poll conducted by the Des Moines Register newspaper. In a similar poll from September, Trump had an advantage of four percentage points.

Donald Trump won Iowa in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections by nine and eight percentage points, respectively.

However, the measurement should be taken with a pinch of salt. The basis is only 808 voters and Harris’ lead is just within the margin of error.
