Harris is backed by top Democrats

According to a new poll conducted by Reuters/Ipsos, it appears that Kamala Harris has more support compared to Donald Trump. However, by barely two percentage points.

The survey was carried out on Monday and Tuesday. It was followed by Donald Trump’s speech in which he accepted the party’s nomination for the presidential nomination, and Joe Biden’s defection to run for president.

In the online survey, 1,241 US adults nationwide responded, including 1,018 registered voters.

On Tuesday evening, US Vice President Kamala Harris received further support for her presidential candidacy. Top Democrats Chuck Schumer, majority leader in the US Senate, and Hakeem Jeffries, minority leader in the House of Representatives, are backing Kamala Harris as the party’s presidential candidate, Reuters reports.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced their support for Harris at a press conference in Washington, DC.

The announcement came shortly before Kamala Harris is expected to hold her first campaign rally in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Schumer and Jeffries have previously said they wanted to meet with Harris first, before going public with their support for her. No such meeting has been held, but they have spoken with Harris by phone, NBC News reports.
