In the Reijerscop animal shelter in Harmelen, the sewing machine sounds continuous. A lot of work is being done to turn old, empty feed bags into dozens of shopping bags. The shelter hopes to use these bags to raise money for the care of the animals. And that is desperately needed because the volunteer organization has to make donations. “Caring for a cat already costs 5 euros per day, dogs even more. And that doesn’t even include medical costs.”
