Many were surprised that Jonna Sundling was poked in the baton.
Not least in Norway.
– I didn’t think it was true, says expert Fredrik Aukland.
Sweden are huge favorites when the women’s relay is decided on Thursday. There was certainly a missed gold during the last World Cup, when Sweden really lost their skis, but this World Cup has been one long Swedish display.
“Didn’t think it was true”
In total, there have been a total of eight medals, of which three are gold – and just about every country has sent the favorites to Sweden ahead of Thursday’s competition. But already on Wednesday, many people were really surprised. When Sweden presented its team, it was a given name that was missing.
Jonna Sundling won gold in both the sprint and the sprint relay and was, in the eyes of many, a given on one of the legs of the relay. But the choice instead fell on Emma Ribom and Maja Dahlqvist, together with Frida Karlsson and Ebba Andersson. In Norway, the news was received with raised eyebrows.
– I didn’t think it was true, says NRK expert Fredrik Aukland.
– She has delivered this championship. It should be quite natural that she takes the final stage.

Sawing the election
He believes that Sundling should undoubtedly have taken either Emma Ribom’s or Maja Dahlqvist’s place in the team.
– Yes, it thinks that absolutely that she table one it could be something that we don’t know about. Based on results, it’s surprising she’s not going, says Aukland.
Aukland believes that Norway benefits from the decision.
Sweden has said that it has to do with the results in the 10 kilometer race earlier in the week, where Jonna Sundling was not at all convincing.
– If it turns out that Anne Kjersti Kalvå and Maja Dahlqvist go out at the same time and it’s snowing, as it is said to be, then it may be possible for Norway to take it in a sprint. This relay lives more than I had thought beforehand, says Aukland.
