Frida Karlsson was about to advance in the sprint.
Then she fell – and was washed.
Now Frida is seen in Norway.
– It’s bad of her, says Viaplay’s commentator.
Sweden looked to be heading for an absolutely brilliant day in the Lahti sprint on Sunday. After a good qualification, Jonna Sundling had already won a quarter-final, and in the next both Linn Svahn and Frida Karlsson looked to advance. But then the accident suddenly happened.
Fatal collision
After the last curve, Frida Karlsson had to change track, and then ran into the skis of the American Julia Kern. Frida Karlsson fell over and did not advance to the semi-finals. Afterwards, it was also announced that the Swede had received a yellow card. Karlsson had a yellow card with him from another competition this season, and that meant washing up.
However, Frida Karlsson was not particularly disheartened by that particular fact, but she believed that she did nothing directly wrong.
– Yes, but it’s crappy, now at least the yellow cards will disappear. It’s nice in its own way. A real crap weekend, this was not what I had hoped for when I came here. Now I just want to go home and recharge, she tells Expressen.
Now sawn in Norway
Even though Frida Karlsson said that she did nothing wrong, and that it was more of a collision, and something that happens during tight sprint races. But in Norway, the voices were critical of Frida Karlsson.
– It is just as much Frida’s fault that she falls, say Norwegian Viaplay’s commentators, according to Nettavisen.
Frida Karlsson was in the inside curve before the fall, and tried to change to a track further in. At the last moment, she changed her mind, which led to the collision with Julia Kern.
– I think it is a bad tactical assessment of Frida, say the Viaplay commentators.
