“Hard for Israel not to act”

Israel was attacked from Iran with both drones and robots during the night.
On Sunday, a crisis meeting is held in the UN Security Council, and the world is anxiously waiting to see how Israel will respond.
– It will be difficult for Israel not to act, at the same time if they do, you can expect a response from Iran, says TV4 Nyhetern’s Middle East correspondent Terese Cristiansson.

The information about the attacks from the Iranian side came several hours before the first robots and drones reached Israeli airspace.

– There have been reports in recent days that there would be an attack from Iran, actually exactly as has happened with about a hundred drones and robots, says Terese Cristiansson, TV4 Nyheternas Middle East correspondent.

Meanwhile, the warnings gave Israel time to prepare and almost all robots and drones could be shot down, the Israeli army, the IDF stated that 99 percent of what was fired from Iran could be neutralized. There is currently no information that anyone has died in the attack.

– Israel has been able to prepare purely in terms of air defense and ask civilians to stay at home and in certain sensitive areas take shelter, says Terese Cristiansson.

Race to bring about a calm

Terese Cristiansson believes that Israel’s response to the attacks and when such a response may take place may be decisive.

– It is a race against time to bring about a calm, but there are many indications that it will be difficult, says Terese Cristiansson.

It will be difficult for Israel not to act after last night’s attack from Iran, even if it could lead to Iran choosing to respond, says Terese Cristiansson.

– Then it starts, and then the outside world is drawn in, even if in this situation you say that you don’t want to be drawn into a big war, but in the end it will be inevitable.

The UN Security Council convenes

During Sunday evening, Swedish time, the UN Security Council will hold a crisis meeting at Israel’s request.

– They want a joint statement to calm down the situation. Discussions about sanctions may arise. Israel wants Iran’s Revolutionary Guard to be branded a terrorist, says Terese Cristiansson.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has condemned the attacks and warns of a further escalation. Sweden has also condemned the attack. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) wrote that the incident has “very serious consequences for an already deteriorating regional security situation”.
