“War. War is always the same.” That’s the most famous sentence from the video game franchise Fallout, which Amazon Prime has now adapted as a series. Starting tomorrow, the eight-part first season of Fallout will be available to stream. It is apparently just as dark and martial as the motto of the video games – and possibly just as funny.
What happens in Amazon’s sci-fi series Fallout?
Fallout takes place approximately 200 years after a nuclear apocalypse. Lucy (Ella Purnell) has lived her life in a gigantic shelter, whose residents are preparing to to repopulate the radioactive earth in the future.
However, when she unexpectedly leaves her familiar home, Lucy quickly discovers how brutal her new surroundings are: between undead gunfighters, murderous radiation, cannibals and the like ice-cold fighting machines of the so-called Brotherhood of Steel, death is almost certain. At least this is what the latest Fallout trailer promises.

The trailer also hints at how much of the original’s wacky humor made it into the adaptation. Fallout takes place in a bizarre world in which a cliché version of the US 1950s is included Sci-fi trash, optimism for progress and McCarthy paranoia encounters a dark nuclear dystopia. The serial apocalypse could hardly be more entertaining.
When is Fallout coming to Amazon Prime Video?
All eight episodes of Fallout Season 1 will be released on April 11, 2024 on Amazon Prime Video. The producer of the series and director of the first three episodes is Jonathan Nolan, who, among other things, served as showrunner of Westworld with Lisa Joy.
