Happy skiers raised money for ALS research with Sara Hector

– We have drawn in 500,000 kroner since we started this in 2019, today we hope for another 250,000 kroner, says Sara Hector.

It was in 2016 that Sara Hector’s mother fell ill with the paralyzing disease ALS.

– It is an incredibly tough diagnosis to receive, as a family. I immediately felt that it was important that I did something active in the situation.

It was the starting point for the Hector ALS Challenge, which was organized in 2019 for the first time. There, those who want can, among other things, meet Sara Hector in parallel slalom.

How is your mother today?

– It is a disease that causes you to gradually get worse. Most go away within two to four years, but she has a slow version. She is relatively well, but has difficulty speaking and does not have much energy. Her life is completely turned upside down.

The money collected on Saturday goes to SVT journalist Ulla-Carin Lindquist’s foundation for ALS research.
