SVT’s outgoing CEO Hanna Stjärne was on the killer Theodor Engström’s death list in Almedalen two years ago.
She has calculated that she was 53 steps away when he attacked psychiatric coordinator Ing-Marie Wieselgren.
– It’s shocking, she says in Efter fem.
The attack on Ing-Marie Wieselgren was fatal, and Theodor Engström has since been sentenced to forensic psychiatric care for murder.
Hanna Stjärne was present in Almedalen when it happened in July 2022, but did not learn that she was also on Engström’s death list until several months later.
She says that she was out celebrating her daughter’s autumn holidays when the call came from SVT’s press manager.
– Then the preliminary investigation had come and my name was everywhere and I realized that I had perhaps a minute or two to call my family before push notifications would arrive on their mobiles, she says in Efter fem.
Have counted the steps
She says she went back to Visby a little later and walked the distance where the murder was committed.
– It was still a bit surreal, but it was good to go there. It was a very short stretch, he passed me before attacking Ing-Marie Wieselgren. I stood on the stage of the Express and it was only 53 steps from where I stood to where she was murdered.
– It was good to be there by myself and get a chance to think. It’s shocking and at the same time I get angry that someone would do that to another person. I thought a lot about Ing-Marie when I was there.
New dream job
Hanna Stjärne announced that she will step down as CEO of SVT in May, this after more than nine years in the post.
After the turn of the year, she will take over the same role for the Nobel Foundation.
A new dream job, she says herself.
– I will be responsible for everything related to the Nobel sphere in Sweden and internationally, so it will be very exciting.
