Hanna Stjärne on the PS investigation: The downward slide for the economy

Today, the public service committee handed over its report to Minister of Culture Parisa Liljestrand (M). There, proposals were presented for the rules that will apply to the public service companies SVT, SR and UR during the period 2026 and eight years ahead.

SVT’s CEO, Hanna Stjärne, says that in the proposal there is a “downward slide in the economy” and that the proposal will lead to journalism and program selection being affected.

According to the investigation, the companies should receive a 3 percent increase in grants in 2026, a 2 percent increase in grants in 2027-2030 and 1 percent in 2031-2033. In recent years, the increase has been 2 percent annually.

SR’s CEO, Cilla Benkö, is also worried that the radio will be forced to make cuts.
