Hanna Öberg’s clear fit for Norway – sticking out her chin after the Swedish huge success: “I just hope that…”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Swedish great success in the WC.
But ahead of the single mixed relay, Hanna Öberg sends the favorite to Norway.

– I hope we can join the fight, she says.

Sweden has already touched the all-time record in the WC. Sweden has at best six medals from one and the same championship, and with several competitions left, they have already reached that number. And thank Sebastian Samuelsson, Hanna Öberg and Linn Persson for that.

Huge success

Sebastian Samuelsson has already taken home two bronzes, and on the women’s side, Hanna Öberg and Linn Persson have been a smash hit with two medals each. During Wednesday’s distance race, Öberg won a fantastic gold, right in front of Linn Persson, who sensationally enough thus won his second WC medal in his career.

On Thursday, there is a chance for Sweden to break the medal record when the single mixed relay is on the schedule. Sweden will start with Hanna Öberg and Sebastian Samuelsson – and given their form, expectations are high. But in Sweden, they still choose to send the favoritism to the west.

– I see Norway as the biggest favourite, they still have Johannes (Thingnes Bö). But I still hope that we can be in the fight, says a humble Hanna Öberg to SVT.

Björndalen’s judgment

Johannes Thingnes Bö has already won four (!) WC golds in Oberhof, and competes together with Marte Olsbu Röiseland. She overcame the distance race on Wednesday, and thus may have an advantage when it comes to energy. But Öberg sees it differently.

– I think this will still give some energy. Most of the girls have competed today, it’s probably only Marte who hasn’t. It will probably be quite similar, she says.

Ole-Einar Björndalen, one of the best biathletes of all time, and now an expert on Norwegian TV2, sees Norway as the favourite.

– The Norwegian team is extremely strong. Marte Olsbu Röiseland has taken a rest day today so the Norwegian team is very well prepared. An advantage for Norway is that Marte is a fairly quick and sure shooter. It can be exciting, I think maybe Sweden has a chance to beat Norway, but it will be very exciting, he tells SVT.
